This depends on what kind of experience you are looking for. The dry season (between December and April) is the best time to go on many of the tours including Corcovado National Park, because heavy rain can make trails and roads quite muddy. On the other hand, the rainy season offers a chance to see the jungle at its most green and luscious, with the added bonus of fewer tourists.

A minimum 2-night stay may be required. We strongly recommend at least 2 or 3 nights to fully relax and best enjoy our ample selection of cultural experiences and eco-adventures.

By car: To get to our hotel from San Jose, you’ll need to take Route 27 until you reach the intersection with Route 34. From there, you’ll head onto the Costanera Sur Route until you reach the Palmar Norte intersection. At this point, take Route 2 Interamericana Sur until you reach the Chacharita intersection. From Chacharita, take Route 245 until you reach the Rincón intersection. Next, take a gravel road for 27 kilometers heading towards Drake Bay. In this final stretch, you won’t cross any rivers; the entire route is equipped with bridges.

By plane: Upon leaving Juan Santamaria Airport, you can walk approximately 150 meters (500 feet) to the domestic terminal, where you can board a flight to Drake Bay Airport. The flight takes approximately 45 minutes to reach Drake Bay.

By boat: From Sierpe, you can take a boat that will take approximately 45 minutes to reach Drake Bay.

Yes. However, there are a few important points. It is highly recommended that you have a 4WD vehicle as the road is mountainous and challenging. It is not recommended to undertake this journey in the dark. In the rainy season the road may become impossible.
